The TIE fighter was the signature star fighter of the Galactic Empire. They were instantly recognizable from the roar of their engines and carried locator beacons so as to be found by the Empire.

The protagonists were pursued by TIE Fighters as they fled Tatooine aboard the stolen Krayt Fang.
